Rendering

External rendering is a two to three stage process of plastering on the exterior of a property. Whether you require an entire house to be rendered or simply just a garden wall, Crest plastering can provide a solution for you.

Traditional rendering is done using a sand and cement mix but in more recent times alternatives have been produced, should you desire a different process. The benefits of using these alternatives such as; monocouche or k-rend, include:

  • Not having to paint the render as it is pre coloured. (a range of colours are provided)
  • Reduced risk of cracking
  • More modern look
  • Longer lasting than traditional render

Despite the choices of materials varying, the process of rendering is almost exactly the same. An initial coat is applied to the wall called a ‘scratch coat’. This provides a key for the finishing coat to be applied to and covers any cracks/holes in the existing wall.

A second coat is applied, usually a few days later (depending on weather conditions) and is smoothed and flattened to finish the wall.

Our skilled plasterers are able to provide high quality rendering work with any material that you wish to use. More information can be provided regarding these materials upon request.
